What is Search Engine and How it Works?
Different types of information related to the Query searched by users are searched in the Search Engine Result Page. This includes Text Documents, Media Files (Images, Videos, Audio, Animations), etc. Based on the information discovered by Search Engine Users, it shows the best information to it first. After this, this sequence continues continuously. Search Engine shows you millions of results for a query.
How Search Engine Works?
Search Engine works in 3 steps:
a) Crawling b) Indexing c) Ranking and Retrieval
Crawling: Crawling means finding, in other words, crawling refers to capture whole information of a website. Search Engine has automated bots, which search all the old and new websites or pages over the internet, this process is called discovery. Search engine bots are also called web robots, crawlers, and spiders. These robots crawl crores of pages on a daily basis.
According to Google, these spiders visit 100 to 1000 pages in just a second. Whenever bots find a new page it sends the same for back end processing ( page title, meta tag, keywords, backlinks, images, videos) and checks the linked pages with it. This process continued whenever bots find a new page.
Indexing: You don't need to think too much to understand the process of indexing. It is very simple. Indexing is a process in which web robots store the data and information they found during the process of crawling, in the database of that particular search engine.
For Example: Suppose you purchase a lot of books on different topics and of different writers from the market, this process will be called Crawling and you will store that book in the library, this process will be called Indexing.
Ranking and Retrieval: Although this is the last step of the search engine work process, this is one of the complex process. Because when you search something on search engine using a keyword, on that time search engine's duty is to provide you the proper and exact information you want. People will believe in search engine only when the search engine provides them user-relevant content from its database. For which Google uses some algorithms (own rules and regulation), that algorithms work according to some parameters like, content age, content keyword, and content page title.
